Introduction

The Youth Association for Development (YAD) is a leading civil society organization based in Baluchistan, Pakistan, dedicated to fostering positive social change through youth empowerment, community development, and advocacy. Established with a vision to create a better future for marginalized communities, particularly women, youth, and refugees, YAD focuses on human rights, gender equality, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), climate justice, and peacebuilding. YAD is known for its innovative approach to tackling the intertwined challenges of climate resilience, gender equality, and health. With a strong foundation in advocacy, capacity building, and research, YAD has been instrumental in addressing the impacts of climate change on SRHR, especially in the context of Afghan refugees and the host communities in Baluchistan. Key Areas of Focus: Youth Empowerment: YAD works to empower youth as agents of change through training, advocacy, and leadership development in sectors such as climate justice, gender equality, and healthcare. Climate Resilience and SRHR: Recognizing the intersection between climate change and sexual and reproductive health, YAD has implemented programs that aim to strengthen climate-resilient healthcare systems while addressing the unique needs of women and girls in vulnerable settings. Advocacy and Policy Change: YAD actively advocates for policies that integrate SRHR into climate resilience strategies, ensuring that climate justice efforts also promote gender equality and health equity. Research and Evidence Generation: YAD conducts research on the impacts of climate change on SRHR and gathers evidence to influence policy and advocacy on these interconnected issues. Refugee Support: YAD has worked with Afghan refugees in Quetta and across Baluchistan, addressing their healthcare needs, including sexual and reproductive health services, and advocating for their rights in the face of ongoing displacement and environmental challenges. Through partnerships with national and international organizations, YAD has contributed to global conversations around climate justice, gender equality, and SRHR, aiming to amplify the voices of vulnerable communities and work toward sustainable, inclusive solutions.
