Past Announcements
- REGISTER NOW for the Global Methane Forum to be held April 16‑18, 2018 in Toronto, Canada. Join your fellow methane experts and policy-makers from around the world to discuss options for methane reduction and abatement activities. Organized by the Global Methane Initiative, the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC), and the Government of Canada, the Forum will be held back-to-back with a CCAC Working Group Governance meeting, which will take place at the same venue on April 19‑20. Details about the sessions and speakers and hotel accommodations are now available.
- The GMI Steering Committee Meeting took place on 8 December 2017 in Mexico City, Mexico.
- The GMI Biogas Subcommittee Meeting was held on 27-28 September in Maryland, U.S.
- The Best Practices in Coal Mine Methane Drainage and Utilization Workshop was held on 23-25 September in Tianjin, China. The workshop coincided with the opening of the International Centre of Excellence on Coal Mine Methane and the 19th International Mining Congress of China .

The first meeting of the newly formed GMI Biogas Subcommittee was held on 27 April 2017 as an Internet session/webinar. The meeting included discussion of the following topics:
- Biogas Subcommittee structure and management, including introductions of new leadership
- Overall GMI vision for biogas work and ongoing activities
- Discussion of in-person Biogas Subcommittee meeting, tentatively planned for September 2017 in Baltimore, Maryland (USA) in conjunction with ISWA World Congress/WASTECON
- Updates from country delegates
- A presentation describing small-scale agriculture projects in the Philippines

VIDEO: Livestock Waste Management in the Philippines - The Best Practices in Coal Mine Methane (CMM) Drainage and Utilization workshop was held on 7-9 June 2017 in Katowice, Poland. The workshop coincided with the opening of the International Centre of Excellence on Coal Mine Methane (ICE-CMM). The principal role of the Centre will be to actively support the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe’s Group of Experts on CMM in its capacity building activities.

- A new tool is available for MSW. Overview of Anaerobic Digestion for Municipal Solid Waste (PDF, 98 pp. 2.1MB) reviews the basics of anaerobic digestion (AD), its processes and technologies, and identifies the benefits of AD. (November 2016)
- An updated version of the Coal Mine Methane Mitigation and Utilization Technologies and Project Profiles is available (July 2016)
- GMI is pleased to officially welcome Canada as the newest Co-Chair of the Steering Committee for the next two years. The ASG wishes to thank Canada for taking on this new leadership role! (June 2016)
- GMI exhibited at UK AD & Biogas 2016 on 6-7 July in Birmingham, UK. Henry Ferland, GMI’s Administrative Support Group Co-Director presented on GMI’s new biogas initiative and Jorge Hilbert, Argentina, GMI Biogas Co-Chair, presented insights into Argentina’s biogas efforts. View presentations
