- Description of Project
- Appalachian State University (ASU) located in northwestern North Carolina, is working with municipalities in the northeastern Brazilian state of Ceara. ASU’s focus is to identify landfill methane recovery project opportunities and connect these with the identified energy needs of local communities. ASU will work with Brazilian partners to develop a shortlist of landfill sites to study, develop preliminary assessments of gas generation potential, and link that potential to community energy needs. The ASU team will also conduct a study tour to North Carolina to provide Brazilian partners the chance to view landfill gas energy projects first hand.
